The fourth annual Kalamazoo Foodways Symposium will focus on the future of foodways, and will provide a platform for discussions about the intersection of food and culture, and health and environment as well. It will provide a space to talk about how the things we have learned through history, traditions, and culture can inform us to move forward and build a just, healthy, and sustainable future for all.

Foodways are the cultural, social, and economic practices relating to the production and consumption of food. Foodways often refers to the intersection of food in culture, traditions, and history. New foodways are being created and revived all the time. 

The Kalamazoo Foodways Symposium inspires and empowers Greater Kalamazoo communities to honor our agricultural history and heritage cuisines, celebrate good food, and work together to build a just and healthy future for all.
